A couple of weeks have passed since the MOFtravels (Marketingoffashion) students arrived home from a week in the amazing city of Berlin. Our timing was planned to hit this city over fashion week and take advantage of lots on offer. Students managed to secure seats at fashion shows, and even entry to fashion week parties showing their great networking and communication skills, as well as great style! Highlights also included a trip to one of Berlins biggest trade shows, Premium, where students were able to attend a day long conference centred around Fashion and Technology, to learn from European agencies, brands and influencers how technology is likely to disrupt and change the way we design, market, sell and manaufacture fashion. The students were also able to explore and develop understanding of B 2 B selling as they witnessed brands marketing themselves to retailers and buyers across the rest of the trade show.
Students also had time to explore the 'Face of Retail' Berlin style with a focus on independent concept stores like, the Voostore and The Store at Soho House Berlin, to develop an understanding of how brands are adapting to a fast changing physical retail environment in light of the growth of online shopping.
Museums featured in our itinerary and a visit to the Helmut Newton foundation couldn't be missed to witness the most amazing exhibition of this iconic photographer's work. On top of this we all toured the city making mental observations of just how 'cool' everything and everyone was there, it really is the city of understated style. My first visit to Berlin took my breath away, i discovered a city of intrigue, creativity and inspiration- we will definitely be back.
