"They may seem simple, but their importance cannot be emphasised enough” (Telegraph)
Soft and hard skills are put to the test by Level 3 Marketing and Management students, building confidence, awareness and communication skills in preparation for tough interviews.
LEVEL 3 FASHION MARKETING AND MANAGEMENT Students participated this Semester in Mock Assessment Day activities in preparation for developing skills ready for industry. Students have undertaken,as part of their Professional Planning Module, activities including Interviews Skills, Networking skills, Numerical and Verbal Reasoning to support them in being work-ready. Skills such as Negotiation, Communication, Persuasion & Time management have been put to test through team activities. Reflecting and demonstrating tough self-analysis supports students in being prepared for interviews in Buying, Merchandising, PR, & Marketing for example. Also working in Digital Marketing requires students to be knowledgeable in the latest terminology. The industry is tough and competitive, with great emphasis on ‘why am I suitable for this role’ in the activities. Students are required in many instances by industry to undertake Assessment Days, Telephone Interviews, Skype calls as well as panel Interviews to get the job they want. Personal evaluation plays a great part of this process as well as demonstrating great communication skills. External talks from Arcadia Group and Urbn Talent Recruiters highlighted the importance of being prepared and informed, being individual and focused. We think our students have done a great job of this process, and have impressed the industry contacts with their focus.
